The Story Behind the App
It all started with a daily frustration: spending 10 minutes in the supermarket aisle trying to decipher complex E-numbers (like E471 or E120) just to know if a simple pack of cookies was permissible.
The food industry is complex. Hidden animal-derived ingredients, alcohol used as a carrier for flavors, and cross-contamination make it incredibly hard for the average Muslim consumer to shop with confidence. We built the Tayib App so you never have to guess again.
Who is behind Tayib?
Tayib is maintained by a dedicated team of independent researchers, developers, and Halal food analysts. We combine technical expertise with a deep understanding of Islamic dietary laws.
As Muslim consumers ourselves, we dive deep into manufacturer documents, recognized scholarly rulings, and European food standards to build the most reliable Halal ingredient database available today.

E-Number & Additive Analysis
We cross-reference every additive with European and international databases to determine its origin (animal, plant, or synthetic).
Direct Brand Communication
For ambiguous ingredients like 'natural flavors' or unspecified gelatin, we contact the manufacturers directly to secure written confirmation of their sources.
Cross-Contamination Checks
We investigate manufacturing processes, including shared production lines and the use of alcohol in flavor extraction.
Continuous Updates
Industrial recipes change frequently. Our system and community alerts help us update a product's Halal status in real-time.
