Our Core Promise: We build tools for the community. We never sell your personal data.
This Privacy Policy describes how and why we might access, collect, store, use, and/or share ("process") your personal information when you use our mobile application Tayib (the "App"), our website (tayib.app), as well as any other products, application and/or services that links to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the "Services"). This Services are developed and operated by Pierre André Bossetti Gutierrez ("we," "us," or "our").
You agree that by downloading, installing, accessing and/or using the Services, you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by all of this Privacy Policy. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH ALL OF THIS PRIVACY POLICY, THEN YOU ARE EXPRESSLY PROHIBITED FROM USING THE SERVICES AND YOU MUST DISCONTINUE USE IMMEDIATELY.
1. What Information Do We Collect?
We collect personal information that depends on the context of your interactions with us and the Services, the choices you make, and the products and features you use.
- Website & Communications: We offer a 100% "Cookie-Free" experience on our website. We do not use intrusive third-party tracking cookies. If you choose to join our waitlist, we collect your email address. To understand which search engines bring users to our site, we use temporary, anonymous browser storage (Session Storage).
- Mobile Device Data: We automatically collect device information (including, but not limited to your mobile device ID, model, and manufacturer), operating system, version information and system configuration information.
- Mobile Device Access: We may request access or permission to certain features from your mobile device, including but not limited to your mobile device's camera. If you wish to change our access or permissions, you may do so in your device's settings. This is required to scan barcodes and read ingredient lists.
- Payment Data: We may collect data necessary to process your payment if you choose to make purchases. All payment data is handled and stored by Apple. We securely manage subscription status via RevenueCat but never see, process, or store your credit card details.
2. How Do We Process Your Information?
We process your personal information for a variety of reasons, depending on how you interact with our Services, including, but not limited to:
- To deliver and facilitate delivery of services to the user. We may process your information to provide you with the requested service, such as barcode scanning and ingredient analysis.
- To identify usage trends. We use PostHog to track anonymous in-app events (like "Scan Initiated" or "Product Not Found") so we can improve the app and expand our database.
- To deliver targeted advertising to you. To help grow our community, we use the Meta SDK. This SDK only tracks your activity if you explicitly grant permission through Apple's native App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt.
- For Custom Audiences and Marketing. If you provide us with your email address (e.g., via our waitlist), we may use a hashed, unreadable version of it to create "Custom Audiences" or "Lookalike Audiences" on platforms like Meta and Google Ads, in order to show you relevant updates or find similar users. You can opt-out of this at any time by contacting us.
3. Do We Offer Artificial Intelligence-Based Products?
As part of our Services, we offer products, features, or tools powered by artificial intelligence, machine learning, or similar technologies (collectively, "AI Products"). These tools are designed to enhance your experience and provide you with innovative solutions.
- Use of AI Technologies: We provide the AI Products through third-party service providers ("AI Service Providers"), including but not limited to Google (Gemini). When using our advanced AI scanner, the photo of the ingredient list is temporarily sent to Google's AI services for text recognition and Halal analysis. We only process photos of food packaging.
- How We Process Your Data Using AI: All personal information processed using our AI Products is handled in line with our Privacy Policy and our agreement with third parties.
4. When and With Whom Do We Share Your Personal Information?
We engage trusted third-party service providers strictly to make our app function and grow our audience. We may need to share your personal information in the following situations:
- Business Partners: We share necessary, anonymized, or explicitly permitted data with AWS, Google, Apple, PostHog, Meta, and RevenueCat. These providers act as data processors and are contractually obligated to protect your data. We have not and will never sell your personal data.
5. How Do We Keep Your Information Safe?
Our services and databases are hosted on secure cloud infrastructure provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS). We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, despite our safeguards and efforts to secure your information, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information.
6. What Are Your Privacy Rights?
In some regions (like the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and Canada), you have certain rights under applicable data protection laws such as the GDPR and Swiss FADP. These may include the right (i) to request access and obtain a copy of your personal information, (ii) to request rectification or erasure; (iii) to restrict the processing of your personal information; (iv) if applicable, to data portability; and (v) not to be subject to automated decision-making.
You can make such a request by contacting us by using the contact details provided. We will consider and act upon any request in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
7. Do We Make Updates to This Privacy Policy?
We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to make changes or modifications to this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy and you waive any right to receive specific notice of such change. You will be subject to, and will be deemed to have been made aware of and to have accepted, the changes in any revised Privacy Policy by your continued use of the Services after the date such revised Privacy Policy are posted.
8. How Can You Contact Us About This Privacy Policy?
If you have questions or comments about this Privacy Policy, you may contact us by email at support@tayib.app.
